Shattered Starlight

It's happy hour, the alcohol is flowing. It's time to pull up a tankard of ale, bottle of wine for the ladies and regail tales of heroism and grandeur.

Shattered Starlight

Moonglade has always been known for both the druidic spirits in it, and the Lunar Festival that takes place every year. However, one morning, just before dawn, for one family, that fragile peace was about to be shattered - forever.

Nilenza smiled as she sat in a tree near her home, eyes closed. The faint sounds of a celebration echoed over the waters of Lake Elune'ara from Nighthaven - in fact, she could see the lanterns from here. Nilenza's pale skin seemed to glow under the moonlight, and combined with her short, silvery hair, it could give her an almost celestial look - like tonight. She was easy to see for the wild creatures, and several took notice of her and climbed into the branches. However, loud sounds from below the tree's branches made her quickly withdraw into the shadows.

Rough orc voices were growling below her. "Orcs!" she whispered. Peering through the thick foliage, she could see her home as always - but it was burning. Her parents had fled the burning building, and she could clearly see her mothers bright blue hair in the gloom.

"Where's Nilenza? Nilenza!" her mother was shrieking. Her cries fell silent when an orc walked up, a huge battleaxe clenched in one huge paw-like hand. Nilenza covered her eyes, but she could still hear it, and then her imagination set to work. She could clearly imagine the axe swinging through the air into her mother's chest, the blood spraying out. Her father gave a stangled sounding yell, and as Nilenza uncovered her eyes she saw another orc - a female, but as muscled as the males - with both hands around her father's throat. The she-orc oressed harder and harder, and eventually her thrashing father fell still. Nilenza choked back a sob in her own throat, and in her grief fell from the tree branch she was perched on.

The orcs whipped round with agile she had not thought possible for their bulky forms, and she stood up sharply. "Um... hi?" she squeaked, fleeing. She felt the long riding crops they usually used on their mounts snap across her back, and their jeering yells. It seemed like hours passed, with her constant running and hiding, but they always found her.

It was mid-morning when an exhausted Nilenza finally collapsed in the Barrow Dens, her body and mind close to breaking point.

She lay down her head, finally falling into a deep, dark slumber.

Okay, there's the story Nilenza tries not to think of. I didn;t realise it would be so long! :) Rate it if you like, ask questions if you like, but definitely read it! :D
