This thread is a collection of recaps of Tormeron's event chains. These stories were originally sprinkled into the Tormeron's events thread, but have now been moved here in order to separate stories from discussion.

Please use the event thread for discussion related to event organization, critique, suggestions, questions and so on. Let's try to keep this thread only for collecting stories and in-character notes.

Beyond the Dark Portal

A slightly serious RP event, where we go explore beyond the dark portal demons.

The demons are suspected of knowing more than the alliance thought possible.

Knowing names of people within the Rhyme and Punishment guild.

Please bring the same character if possible to all events!
An helpful addon would be GHI (Gryphonheart Items)
Updating the addon would be nice!

This is planned to be a long series of events, please bring a character you can stick to for the whole expedition, so it will be "realistic", even though you could always change if you really think you made a mistake.

After parking for the night beyond the dark portal the expedition discovered that something sinister is going on.
Demons aware of their names and closed gates to the city... what is going on?
Join us tonight to the expedition, bring a character that you are willing to use the whole expedition!

We've explored the pools to the north of hellfire penissulla discovering lots of footprints all around the pools, much larger than human footprints.

We've found a soldier who's been stabbed by a large sword, who asked for help to save the squad he was in. he said they were going to honor hold, after that he exploded.

finally we escaped the pools after some of our horse mounts died and discovered they were already under attack for 3 days from flying demons.

the priestess in the temple discovered through us that an envoy of cease fire with the orcs have been killed by the demons.

as we camp in the temple we notice scouts of the demons lurking and checking the place every few hours never aproaching close enough for archers to hit them.

during the time between events the temple shall be attacked twice by rather small well trained demons, flying over the temple barely at arrow range dropping fireballs as they pass.

Last time in Outland:

The group departs Hellfire and heads towards Zangarmarsh. On the way they encounter a strange black-hooded elf (?) woman who offers them a free drink named "demon blood". Coalbrow lampshades the situation by saying something along the lines of "Free drink? Named 'demon blood'? Which looks dark red and murky? Handed out by a hooded lady at the side of the road, for free, in a place called Hellfire, where recently many strange and nasty things have happened, involving demons? What could possibly go wrong?!" Then drinks the "demon blood". Which does ... something ... to slur his tongue so that for a while all he's able to say is "blurgh". The condition is cured by Serendipity who offers 'Brow a Sulfuron Slammer which apparently burns the "demon blood" right out of his system. At this time there are no after-effects (this may or may not change if the storyteller decides so).

Near the mountain pass between Hellfire and Zangarmarsh the group encounters a big demon which blocks the way. With the combined efforts of the more aggressive companions and their spells/arrows/weapons, the demon is killed and explodes gorily. Liandrix picks up a demon tooth which shapes itself into a strange dagger in his hands.

A short time later, on the bridge that crosses the first stream/river in Zangarmarsh, a group of ravagers attacks. Most are disposed of quickly by more spells, arrows and stabby-stabby, but one creature almost kills Liandrix. He saves himself by stabbing the ravager with his new demon-tooth-dagger, which promptly kills the creature. (Not sure if he keeps the dagger afterwards, loses it into the creature, or discards it.) Liandrix feels quite shaken after this type of contact with a demonic artifact.

In Zangarmarsh the group learns that hundreds and hundreds of demons have been seen flying across the sky towards Blade's Edge. They also have some dealings and talks with the naga who live on the shores of the big lake. The group heads to the lake, kills a bunch of naga, and finds a gold ring with a faded inscription. (I don't remember who found it or what the exact letters were, Tormeron can surely remind us.)

The adventurers decide to head towards Blade's Edge next.

(This event chain will not continue next week but presumably two weeks from now.)

This week in Outland!

The group convenes at the mouth of a cave that leads from Zangarmarsh to Blade's Edge Mountains. In their infinite wisdom they decide to traverse the cave instead of doing something sensible, like fly over the mountain or something. So it should not be a surprise that things go pear-shaped very quickly. The group is attacked by oodles of spiders which, strangely, seem to disappear as they're hit by spells, arrows and suchlike. Almost as if they were merely illusions...

Celissi is bitten in the neck by one of the spiders. Or is she? She's definitely affected by a poison of some kind. Coalbrow finds a vial on the ground, the vial is empty but with traces of poison or venom in it. He has no time to examine and compare it to whatever was affecting Celissi, as spiders' attacks continue. Celissi's condition -- a massively swollen neck and throat which almost suffocates her -- is alleviated by healers casting their spells as well as Coalbrow bringing the swelling down with a herb poultice. (HERB!!!)

After fending off a series of spider attacks the adventurers face the biggest spider yet: a two-headed mutha' that speaks to them and expresses her desire to have them for dinner. There's a lot of fighting, spells flying left and right, arrows, swords and whatnot. Eventually the spider knocks Liandrix down and prepares to kill him. Salvation arrives from a most unexpected source: Floaty, Serendipity's magic lantern, which apparently was created by Liandrix and contains quite a lot of magic as well as has fierce loyalty towards its creator. The lantern floats up to the spider and blasts it with magic, destroying it completely. Yup, the horrible spider that a dozen adventurers could barely scratch, was blasted apart by a floating minipet.

The group finally makes it out of the cave, through waves of semi-illusionary spiders. All the time followed by mysterious laughter coming from shadows. There's also an incident where both of the group's mages -- Liandrix and Serendipity -- had a silencing spell cast on them briefly.

Outside the night sky of Blade's Edge greets them. As well as a wonderful smell of meat roasting on campfire. Just a few steps from the mouth of the cave is an untended fire with roast and a mysterious runed spellbook next to it. Liandrix the mage Loremaster -- who else? -- attempts to read the book, which goes *boing* and creates a magical shield around the fire. The shield -- think "Dalaran" but in smaller scale -- expands, pushing everyone away. All attempts to pierce it are met with failure: spells rebound and so does Serendipity's staff that she tries to use to bonk the shield. Then Liandrix uses his Blink spell and, a surprise to everyone, ends up inside the shield. He does some major high-grade arcane loremastering with the spellbook and the shield shrinks... and shrinks... and shrinks until it surrounds Liandrix's body entirely. On one hand this seems nice, as the shield looks like it could protect him from anything up to and including Deathwing's fart, but on the other hand the shield does not allow food or drink to reach Liandrix either. Which seems to be a problem at first, until Liandrix flexes his muscles and the shield just... pops and goes away. For some reason.

An invisible force / person runs past them, snatches up the spellbook, and disappears laughing. He is deemed to be a powerful mage: mastering silence, invisibility, shields and illusions.

With the shield problem taken care of, Coalbrow wanders up to the fire and tries to pick up the roast, which everyone warns him is an extremely obvious trap. Not giving a hoot (refer to the "demon blood" incident from the previous event), Coalbrow picks up the roast anyway. Which then proceeds to melt into goop that tries to crawl up his arms and on his head. With some quick thinking Coalbrow assumes his Dwarven Stoneform and has Serendipity toss a Flamestrike spell on him. This burns most of the goop away, while leaving Coalbrow pretty much intact. He manages to catch a little bit of the goop in one of the good strong flasks that he, as a practicing alchemist, carries around all the time. The goop seems alive and almost sentient, it bounces around in the flask trying to destroy it, then attempts to force the stopper open. Coalbrow admonishes the goo's actions and, surprisingly (maybe because 'Brow referred to Tormeron by name), it quiets down. It does not take long before Coalbrow has apparently established a reasonably good relationship with the goop, as he feeds it insects and it no longer tries to escape or kill him.

The group discusses the possibility of this goop being a part of something called Tormeron's Living Soup. Lots of references are thrown around, talking about events which I, sadly, did not attend. Someone could maybe please give a short description on the Case of the Living Soup.

Having overcome their daunting task of moving from one area to another, the group moves to Toshley's Station, then flies to Sylvanaar where they decide to rest until next week.

Next week: "a big decision will be needed". We will continue from Sylvanaar.

In the last chapter!

The group gathers in Sylvanaar. The local inkeeper provides them with a couple of scouting reports which indicate that some kind of a meeting is going to be taking place between demons and local Bloodmaul ogres that very evening! They also pick up a gnomish newspaper with an article written by (INSERT AUTHOR NAME HERE) that talks about a missing Outlands expedition. And mentions a few RnP members.

(I am really bad with names. Someone please remind me who was the gnomish author of the article...)

(I suspect that the "choice" Tormeron was going to have us make today might have been whether to go looking for the missing expedition, or sneak into the ogre-demon meeting. However the general opinion was that the described expedition was our own, so we had no reason to go looking for and saving ourselves.)

It's decided to go and investigate the meeting between demons and ogres. The adventurers make their way down into Bloodmaul Ravine and witness (from a safe distance) a large group of doomguards (fifty-ish), led by a massive demon lord, meeting with a similarly big crowd of ogres. Tensions get high, ogres do not seem to like the demons so pretty soon the two groups get into a bit of a scuffle.

There is no time to enjoy the show, sadly, because all of a sudden earth quakes and a bunch of worm-creatures emerge from underground. The vast majority of these consists of smaller, half-a-meter worms, with one really big-ass worm (please note, not "big ass-worm"!) thrown in the mix. The smaller ones are dispatched fairly easily, spells and arrows and punches kill them quickly. The big one tries to eat a few group members, who are fortunately saved by their companions, and it does not take much time to also put an end to the big worm. At which point everyone goes "uh-oh" because all the worm corpses go red, bloat up and then explode in showers of acidic goodness. And when I say "goodness" I mean "horrible nasty stuff that eats through clothes and skin and won't go away".

Nobody is killed or injured too bad. However, the battle has brought the adventurers to the demon lord's attention. A bunch of doomguards fly above and start tossing fireballs. As they're having major difficulty with flying opponents (seriously, where are those damn fel-seeking SAMs we were hoping for?!), the group decides to take shelter in a nearby ogre cave. At the cave's mouth Equanimity attempts to hold the attackers at bay with a holy shield, but a volley of massive fireballs collapses the cave entrance and everyone barely escapes. But now they're trapped inside the cave.

The ground shakes again, and another worm emerges. This one, however, is a mixture of worm and doomguard, an old demon who tells the group that he does not (at that particular moment) intend to kill them. Instead it offers them a bargain: the group kills his enemy, the demon lord (whom we just left outside) and in turn he allows the adventurers to leave unharmed. If they try to escape, well, his worms are everywhere in Blade's Edge so the group would not be safe anywhere.

This bargain is reluctantly accepted. The King of Worms (hey Mannimarco! (from The Elder Scrolls series)) guides his worm armada to eat and destroy the blockage at the cave's entrance. As they step outside, the group immediately comes face-to-face again with the demon lord. It spends no time on talking, and attacks immediately with its twin magical swords that seem to protect it from the adventurers' magical attacks. Everyone who can, uses their physical attacks: weapons and fists. The tide of the battle is turned by several worms that tunnel out from the ground and attack the demon lord's legs. This forces the lord to thrust its swords into the ground, killing the worms but also exposing himself to attacks. Spells become useful again and fighting intensifies.

Then the demon lord, now quite badly injured, grabs ahold of Lilandris. It tries to squeeze her to death and the adventurers have a lot of trouble trying to rescue her. Almost crushed, Lilandris sticks her gun's muzzle into the demon lord's face and manages to blow it off before she herself falls on the ground unconscious.

The demon lord's body is promptly eaten by more worms. The King of Worms shows up again, congratulates the adventurers on a job well done and allows them to leave.

And then, in the end, they have a bit of an epiphany and figure out just how the demons knew the names of Rhyme and Punishment: they must have read the newspaper article!

With this, the adventure is complete. But there are still unanswered questions and further plot points to explore: What will happen with all the demons that are gathering to attack Azeroth? Who was the person responsible for several previous problems, such as the demon blood drink, silencing of the mages, stealing the spellbook, illusionary spiders and so on? What about Tormeron's living soup?

The Sludge

A letter arrives for each of you from Lucillia (the reporter):

Greetings [your char's name]

It has come to my knowledge that troubles are brewing in the nagrand area.
Though we have had our share of differences in opinions as to what you have or haven't done, I have no one else to write to in order to get help for them.

I've been biding my time in the nagrand area watching as sludge like creatures have been getting on the offensive against the local wildlife and some incidents have been reported as to missing guards at those areas.

Jail Break (and beyond)

This storyline started with a jail break from Ironforge, and has continued through Wetlands, Feralas, Silithus and Tanaris.

Jailbreak news article.

According to sources on the scene a few days ago several criminals were placed in jail for crimes they committed, among those crimes were: mass murder of local wildlife, deforestation by picking up herbs and a minor offence of trying to assault the Ironforge throne room.

The criminal was last seen heading south from Ironforge.

Last time in Jailbreak we went searching in south Dun Morogh for a escaped captive. The first place we went to was the town of Kharanos where we gathered some info from the bar as well as the feuding pair of Dwarves near the forge. The culprit of said Jailbreak appears to be a Night Elf who stole some weapons from the Dwarves.

We followed the trail from the town northwards to the Ice Troll Village in search of him. Whilst we made our way further north off the beaten track and up some mountains it came to our attention that the town of Kharanos had come under attack. We raced back to investigate but appeared to be a false alarm. Many Trolls were sighted in the south but under further investigation no tracks for them could be found. The party returned to the Troll village and investigated the cave inside.

At this point they met up with a non-aggressive Troll who explained that the Night Elf had already left Dun Morogh by ship and was heading for Menethil Harbor along with half the troll village who had joined him.

We also found some stuff in the cave like a used staff and a skull so perhaps a ritual had recently taken place.

... I've likely forgotten stuff and this was hastily written.
