In a new blog post, Game Director Wyatt Cheng and Senior System Designer Kris Zierhuthas have shared what the Diablo Immortal team learned from the last few months of Closed Beta. Below is quick summary of the updates, for more info check the full post on DiabloFans!
- Since Diablo Immortal is an MMO, the team wants to promote social aspects of the game such as party formation for players to complete shared goals.
- While the Battle Pass was well received, the Boon of Plenty was not and will likely be improved so it feels more valuable and worthwhile.
- Other in-game purchases such as the Legendary Gems will be changed to reduce their impact on playing alt characters.
- The work on the controller detection system and controller support is not final, more improvements will be done before the global release of the game.
- Warbands will be expanded for groups of 8 players, and additional features and rewards will be added for this system.
- New set items are being planned, and set items that weren't used as much will be changed through a balance pass to support and complement particular builds and playstyles.
- The Cycle of Strike will receive a number of changes. The new design will give Clans more meaning and allow players to form long-term friendships with other players.
- The World Paragon system is being changed so that friends can keep playing together despite their difference in Paragon Levels. Players below the World Paragon Level will gain more experience, while players way above the World Paragon Level will gain less experience.
- This system will no longer affect item salvage, however, the crafting costs will be increased for higher item ranks.
