The Armory of The Lightmancer

The Armory of The Lightmancer

You’ve often heard about the escapades, events and line of work that Lilandris the Lightmancer has carried out in her time as the Lightmancer. Though she hasn’t been in this role very long just yet, - only a handful of years have passed since her eyes changed, she has carried out a lot of work in the name of the Holy Light both on and off the record.

But you do perhaps have yet to hear in detail about her equipment, - the tools she uses beyond her holy hymns and magics.

(This thread will be posted in over time as I complete the descriptions and new equipment shows up. Also, it is in times posting threads like this I really wish I could draw.)

The Fatebringer
- The pistol on her hip

The most prominent of her tools, the one most feared by her enemies, and arguably one of the more powerful blessed weapons on Azeroth, though it is still a long ways off from The Ashbringer. The weapon is useless in any other person’s hands, as it won’t fire, and even if it did, it would be no more powerful than a normal gun.

Lil used to carry a flintlock pistol, but being a person who appreciates practical things and having extensive knowledge of gunsmithing through her goblin engineering, she decided to upgrade. The flintlock was dismantled, and the thick blessed metal barrel and mechanism was reforged into a cylinder, and a thinner, rifled barrel. The rest of the metal was used for the hammer and trigger. The rest of the metal used to hold the gun together is lightforge metal. The grip is made out of oiled oak from the Hearthglen, and is carved with symbols of The Holy Light. The grip is mostly symbolic and doesn’t carry any significant power, unlike the rest of the gun.

The cylinder’s smooth exterior has the words “Damnation”, “Imprisonment”, “Purification”, “Disintegration”, “Chastisement”, and lastly - and most feared: “Suspension” written on it. The cylinder does not rotate when the hammer is drawn, it is operated manually to decide the fate of the target, they vary in severity and situational use.

The hammer makes a sound akin to a church bell when it strikes the chamber cap on the first shot, all through magical means. The trigger reacts to Lil’s touch after having rested for a reasonable amount of time (meaning it has been holstered in the meantime, the battle being over).

The chambers are not physically loaded with bullets. Instead, when struck by the hammer the chamber fills with light and discharges an incorporeal bullet of said light, the bullet makes a “bang” like any other (Lil made sure of that in the design, would make for a boring gun otherwise, no?) and wounds the target before delivering the intended fate to the soul and/or body (which ones it affects depends on the fate).

The Book of the Lightmancer
- The book she carries in her belt the same way paladins carry their librams

The Book’s origins is unknown, it appears when a Lightmancer is chosen, and vanishes the instant the Lightmancer dies or steps down from her duty.

The book appears as any old book does; weathered and worn. The cover has a deep red colour and is reinforced with ordinary metal on the edges. The book carries no symbols, only its name on the front cover in a shiny amber writing.

The mystical tome holds an unknown amount of power and discharges said power at seemingly random levels. Regularly used for prayers and hymns out of combat. In combat it is held in open position, but not directly read from, but rather acts as an enhancing focus to the Lightmancer’s abilities.

Scourgebane Grenades
- Engineered grenades, not always carried.

These grenades were an early design by Lil, they come in both regular fragmentation/shrapnel version and Incendiary version. Through use of the Holy Light’s power and the wonders of engineering, these grenades came to be. When carried, they adorn a bandolier across Lil’s torso. The grenades are cylinder shaped and attached to a wooden throwing handle, and a mark on the cylinder denotes the type of grenade at hand, otherwise they are more or less identical.

The grenades function more or less the same as normal explosives, except they are specifically designed to take on larger groups of undead with ease, assuming the creatures aren’t too powerful - lesser minions will most likely disintegrate upon contact with the discharge, be it shrapnel or fire. Regular people are less affected, though necromancers and other similar evil doers are more susceptible to the effects than someone who isn’t in such affiliation.

The Machete of Perseverance
- To be adopted come Warlords of Draenor release.

“No jungle shall keep me from carrying out my holy duty! I will persevere!” - Lil, upon arrival in Draenor, traveling through the Tanaan Jungle.

The wild lands of pre-shattering Draenor demand a heightened ability of survival, and the tools required for this, hence Lil’s adoption of the Machete. The blade is curved from a few inches away from the handle (like a Kukri only slightly less curved). The blessed metal carries several symbols and the word “Persevere” written in Draenei on the straight part near the handle. The end of the blade is flat, it has no tip, as if it was chopped off, it is however intentionally made this way. The blade can also be used as a light source, due to the blessed metal. The handle is unremarkable except for the unusual addition of a pommel jewel - a piece of polished amber inside a steel setting. The machete will be carried in a separate, additional belt, with the sheath across Lil’s lower back.
