Having said everything there is to be said in this thread by various people, I would like to add one last thing:

It is not uncommon for beta software to run more slowly than the final version, because the code must log everything it does and that creates overhead. So maybe the situation won't be that bad after all once WotlK goes gold.

My advise is to wait and see how it runs in your machine with the configuration you want, and then make any decisions for upgrades.

I feel sorry for you Shada, my 'old' pc with its, NVIDIA ti4200 agp 64MB graphics card outperforms your pc.

I feel that your lack of performance may be more than your hardware issues.

It seems I might have to wait for Wotlk for little longer. My laptop currently has 32MB VRAM card and as it can't be upgraded without buying whole new computer...

I assume SP2 should work, but if something goes wrong, Blizzard doesn't offer support to it.

No problems with SP3 here, if anything it's faster than SP2, for me anyway.

About the lag in Dalaran... I have found it to be situational after all. Today didn't lag AT ALL for example, dunno why.
