Forum bug reports

Dear all,

As you can see, we have successfully switched to the new forum as planned. Compared to the recent WoD launch?... No so bad work, if I do say so myself ;)

Now that the number of users visiting the forum is increasing, you will certainly start to discover problems, glitches and issues that the small number of alpha and beta testers have missed. Please report those in this thread.

Anything goes. Big problems (server error), small problems (found a button somewhere that has a weird colour that doesn't match the overall scheme), minor annoyances (button X is 5 pixels away from frame Y, but it would look better if it were 7 pixels away).

Currently known issues:

  • Main forum shows wrong thread as "last post" after editing a post.

Tentatively fixed (needs to be checked if fix is really working):
  • Chatbox does not scroll to bottom at first page load.

Fixed issues:

  • Birthday reminder is now more noticeable.
  • Confusing "edit" button for moderators moved to a separate area (doesn't affect normal users).
  • "Who is online" page headers.
  • Smilie list is messed up: More commonly used smilies have been added. Feel free to suggest more.
  • Officers are unable to reply to threads in Applications forum: fixed. Non-officers cannot reply by design. Applicants are able to reply their own threads.
  • ":Q" emoticon is not working in chatbox. Super-urgent priority. :Q
  • Intermittent chatbox errors (was more broadly related to server errors we were getting because of virtual memory limitations previously enforced by our host).
  • Officers unable to reply to applications.
  • Double post merging does not mark thread as unread.

Not exactly a bug but on the Who is online page the titles are in red rather than white, which would make it easier to read against the blue background.

There's an error message that pops up now and again in the chatbox, dunno if you are aware.

"Chatbot: connection error 500" or something like that, when I went back out to double check the exact message just now, it was gone o.O

Just a suggestion for everyone before posting a bug, flush your browser's cache.
Some "bugs" occur due to changes in files that are cached on your computer.

In order to clear your bugs on firefox you go to History -> clear recent history, there you select cached files, you don't need to delete all saved passwords or other stuff, just the cached files

In chrome you select the menu -> History -> clear browsing data -> select cached files.

Enjoy :dunnykin:

Apparently I am able to reply in Applications forum despite being just a member. I see this kind of list below the forum:

You can post new topics in this forum
You can reply to topics in this forum
You can edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You cannot post attachments in this forum

The :C smiley doesn't seem to work in the chat box. Poor dementedly happy smiley!

Chatbox doesn't support the exact same set of smilies that the forum has. Custom ones need to be added separately. I'll see about adding the demented one. If there are wishes for any more, please list them.

Working As Intended.

You see that list below the forum, yes, but if you go into any of the threads then you will not have a "reply" button unless you are the thread's author.

The permission list essentially means:
"You can post new topics" because everyone can.
"You can reply to topics", except you can only reply to topics you started.

Okay then. I just previously saw with that beneath the forum and looking at some thread (before I posted here about it) that I was able to reply to threads others have posted in there. Now it seems to work as intended as even the Quick Reply button has disappeared which I previously saw.
