The Mithril Mug Fest - the day after

Well, 't was nice to say the least! Guests were few but that also spared us of OOCers. Here's the final post as posted in the Moonglade forums:

Well the event itself went smoothly, no interruptions, oocers or any of the usual disturbances - BUT! - unfortunately the number of guests was a bit of a dissapointment. Even though we advertised the event quite a lot and threw personal invites to many many friends and guild leaders, the total number of guests was below 12, and by the event's end we were left with just 4!
'tis a shame to see RP events that are organized, practiced and advertised go down like a dud bomb, but at least the guests who did come seemed to have lots of fun.

Here's the event's breakdown:

Phase 1: The March

We all gathered in Military Ward, IF. In a double line we marched on to the gates, surprising the guests by splitting the line at the trench and going around, one line arriving from each side of the gate. There we mounted up on own brown rams (+a white one) and marched down to Kharanos. There was cheering, singing, purchasing of ale from the brewfest vendors and some displays like the Ram Wave.
Reaching the Thunderbrew Distillery we rushed in crying for ale!

Phase 2: The Drunken Mumblin'

Most possibly setting the record for instant mass drunken-ness, and thus having a tricky time trying to figure what's going on amidst the blur, Drill Sergeant Moltun was given the reins for the second part of the event, the Drunken Mumbling contest. 8 participants, one at a time, climbed on the central table and started relaying a story and being awarded with points:
+1 for every s becoming sh due to drunkenness (ICly having a good accent when drunk)
-2 for every sh becoming shh (aka trying to cheat and get caught - ICly trying too hard)
-2 for every ...hic! (ICly showing weakness to ale effects)
Some had funny stories to relay while some were more intent on winning. The three first point-wise were:
#1 - yours truly Thane Grov, saying an unprepared story as it came to mind while using a lot of "s" words, 29 pure points!
#2 - Sergeant Anrui having prepared the story beforehand, 22 points +4 for good story = 26 points!
#3 - guest Sharitha, a sharp night elf, who really did a good job improvising at 19+3 for story = 22 points!
As hosts we could but pass on the reward so Sharitha won one of the 4 sets of prizes - a frostweave bag, an eternal buckle and 25 gold pieces!

Phase #3: The Bar Brawl

Being almost too drunk to think straight, the air started getting heated with insults and bitter remarks, most of which were due to being smashed by ale. Things got aggressive and before long there were mug, shankers, fists and other items found in the inn held in a menacing manner. The fight that followed began as fast as it ended, with the Thane being knocked out and the rest slowing their fighting to drunken weak flailing around. Soon the Thane (that's me) woke up with a dizzy head and fuzzy memory and demanded explanations from his troops as to why they were bashing their own guests...

Phase #4: The Treasure Hunting

Leaving bruises and frustration behind and curing the pain with yet more ale the Thane asked the troops and guests to go on a treasure hunting: The Ironforge Banner was damaged in one of our battles and we needed items to repair it: A shaft, in the shape of an iron staff from the trolls of Dun Morough. A pair of wolf-hide gloves to cut up and use as binfings. 5 pieces of trogg cloth - washed briefly then used as patches. Newly returned to service Pipp of the Guard was the first to bring back the items listed.

Phase #5: The Twin Riddle

One of the hardest things to do drunk is think straight. Solving a riddle can be but tougher still.
The first riddle announced was:
"Reach for the heart and follow the nose
Reach for the ring and follow your nose
Up above Riknu his stories he tells
But down below something quite fishy it smells"
The heart refers to the city's heart, the great anvil.
the nose is the anvil's "nose" aka its point
the ring is the inner ring of buildings in the city and following your nose means going to where it smells good - the Bronze Kettle cookery. Riknu is Daryl Riknussun, the cooking trainer, and the fish is the basket of fish on the bench downstairs. Drill Sarge Moltun was hiding behind the basket to relay the second riddle:
"Now for the ring that lies outside
Reach now you must and face sunset's side
Follow your path skip crowd and gate
There you will find a visitor in wait"
Obviously the ring outside is the outer ring of the city's buildings. Facing west you follow along , you go past the gates and you see the Ironforge Visitor's center. I was there, sitting in the table in stealth sipping some ale.
Saritha won this one too, getting her second set of bag+buckle+25gold.

That concluded the event!
Hope to see more of you there on the next one!:Q

Personally, I'd say the turn-out wasn't too bad at the start! The Inn certainly was crowded. Shame to hear so many left before the end though, I'm guilty of that too as RL called. But it was a fun event, two thumbs up for all the effort put into it. :)
I've also got some pictures of the march and the Inn for you!

Aargh! If I'd known about it, I would certainly have been there.

Was there a mention of the event on RnP forums? The only thing I can find at a quick glance is this thread, which is already a recap.

Maybe next time an external event is coming up, someone could pop a reminder to the GMOTD as well? I bet people read that more often than even forums, and it's been somewhat... uninformative... as of late (aside from a recent birthday announcement).
