The Tournament of Wits.

Greetings my dear fine fellows and gentlewomen of Rhyme. It has come the the attention of Kyralas and I that there is an opportunity to be had for fun and competition! No doubt, this will be a welcome break for many from the horrors of recent weeks.

Upon official investigation, Kyralas and I found that Medivh's ghostly chess room in Karazhan is still fully functional, and untouched by opportunistic looters. The tower is relatively abandoned nowadays, so we shall have the freedom to do as we please in the area.

We propose a friendly tournament of sorts. Teams of Rhymers battling against each other's wits until one reigns supreme... With a possible prize waiting for those victorious.

Please sign underneath if you find yourself interested.

Yours,

Bootenstein Manacog.

How it all began.

"The slightest loss of concentration is all it takes." - Medivh on his favourite hobby.

Here is the WoWpedia page on the rules/abilities of Karazhan Chess. Do not worry about "Cheating", that won't happen

It seems we have enough interested for a tournament!

8 people have signed up so far, thus this is enough for 4 teams of 2. Looks like a simple 2 round knock out championshipamabob, which should be fairly easy to organise.

With Bubs as witness, dice have been rolled to sort out the teams... as it seems progress was a bit slow on that front... So instead of giving you the illusion of free choice I took the liberty of choooosiiiing foooor yooouuu... </gman>

Teams

Team 1
- Cyriana
- Lanani

Team 2
- Shevron
- Dippo

Team 3
- Syrah
- Zerkesh

Team 4
- Lathillya
- Gailia

I am a bit rusty however .. and I never actually played the Kara Chess .. so got no clue how that works.

But yeah, I would be interested .. Obviously depending on date and time heavily.

Never been very good at chess, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

So I guess that's a yes too, but like Shev - it depends on the date and time.

I don't know how to play chess. I know the rules, that's about all...

But I'm willing to sign up as a pawn :)
I have no particular talent... but I'm fun to be around :cherwina:

Sounds like fun to me. I guess we have to clear the instance up to the chess bit, then teams of... 5 a piece?

The teams would be between 2-4 players each. Or 1v1 if there's like, not enough interest (hopefully that isn't the case). Reason for the limit being 4 is that at least one person will be refereeing/keeping score.

Bubs and I shall clear the raid well in advance. We easily duo anything in that raid, so all people would have to worry about is turning up, and being escorted safely to the chess room. Due to the fact it's a raid, it also means we can have a degree of flexibility, so the matches do not have to be all in one night. Right now, we're just seeing who's interested :Q

And for those who don't know what Karazhan's chess is like... It's a bit like chess mixed with raiding. You control one piece at a time, and can switch whenever you wish, and each piece has it's own abilities. Bishops are healers, kings can buff and cleave etc. Here is the Wiki page detailing all of the abilities. Don't worry about "cheating". That only happens when playing against Medivh.

Also, if people wish to tag along with us to clear the raid for loot and achievements (Apart from wolfslayer sniper rifle, THAT GUN WILL BE MINE), you're more than welcome. It will be a purely OOC venture though, as the tower's meant to be vacant :Q
